Patients often want surgical or orthopaedic treatment, others come with heart disease or cancer. Most of them need long-term treatment, so many come accompanied by their families. Others have themselves flown in from their home country for a check-up program.
Patient tourism in Germany is currently experiencing a boom. Since 2001, Arabic-speaking patients in particular, who had previously been treated in the USA, have been attracted to German clinics – around 6,000 patients and accompanying persons every year, and the trend is rising. In the past, these patients were treated in the USA, where so-called patient tourism was discovered around 25 years ago and has been practiced professionally ever since. For most German clinics, however, this patient tourism is relatively new. The aim here is to relearn the concept of service and implement it accordingly. International patients expect appropriate services, such as contact persons and care in their native language, examination and treatment by senior physicians and attention to personal needs (food, lounge, prayer room, etc.). We close this gap professionally. We put clients from all over the world in touch with selected German clinics – and support them in everyday life in Germany.
Our aim is to bring foreign patients to hospitals and clinics throughout Germany for treatment of their respective illnesses and to ensure the patient’s well-being during their stay. It very quickly became apparent that there is a high demand and great interest among international patients for treatment in Germany as a healthcare location, but that it is necessary to offer the respective treatments not only regionally but throughout Germany.
